Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

If you’re anything like me. The run up to Mother’s Day usually involves a last minute trip to the shops to buy one of the many Mother’s Day Gift Sets on offer. Thoughtful right?

It’s fair to say I’m less that useless when it comes to thinking up thoughtful and imaginative Mother’s Day presents. It’s for this very reason I thought I’d try and make a little more effort this year. So if you’re a box of chocolates and a bunch of garage bought flowers kinda guy. Keep on reading for some potential alternatives that might actually get you some mummy brownie points.

For the Adventurous Mums

Want to make your Mother’s day gift one to remember, then this is a cracker. Why not give your mum a ticket to the longest Zip Line in Europe and the fastest in the World – Velocity.

Located in Zip World, Bethesda. This zip line sends you soaring over a disused water filled quarry as you reach speeds in excess of 100mph.

Gift Vouchers start at £60 which I feel is great value for an adrenaline filled day out. Why not buy yourself one while you’re at it and race to the bottom!

For the Laid Back Mum

If your mum is not the adventuress type and prefers a slower pace of life, this maybe this gift is the one for you.

The Celtic Manor, home of the 2010 Ryder Cup offers a number of fantastic packages. I can personally recommend the ‘Sunday Rollover’ as myself and Mrs Cheeky have recently taken advantage of this fantastic offer for the 2nd time in recent years.

For £138 you can enjoy use of the ‘Forum Health Club’ facilities, which include swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam rooms on both the day of check in and check out

One overnight stay in one of the luxurious 5* hotel rooms

3 Course dinner at the Olive Tree – Quick tip on this one. For an additional £20 you can upgrade your restaurant booking which enables you to take advantage of the other dinning venues on site. Id fully recommend this.

Full English breakfast on the Monday Morning.

It’s an excellent way to spend a Sunday. The Celtic Manor hotel is quite possibly the only hotel in the UK that makes me feel like I’m on holiday. The number of activities on offer is staggering and it’s great for kids and adults alike if you fancied making this a family outing. Crazy Golf, High Rope Adventures, Archery, Treasure Hunts, Forestry Walks. It really does cater for all the family.

For Ladies that Lunch

Afternoon Teas are all the rage these days and I’m sure the mums out there won’t turn down another slice of cake and a lovely cup of tea. Of course, there are literally thousands of venues you could pick to send your Mum for this gift which is why it’s a great one to select. You could pick a venue close to home, or you can pack the old duck off for the day and buy yourself some quiet time. Ideal for the in laws 😉

Being located just outside Cardiff, one afternoon tea that has recently caught my attention is the ‘Gentleman’s’ Afternoon tea in the Park Plaza, Cardiff. It’s slightly less scone and cream and more Sirloin Steak Ciabatta and Chorizo Scotch Eggs. It’s definitely one for the meat lovers amongst us.

Prices start at £19.95 per person.

Failing any of the above. Why not plan to spend the whole day with your mum and remind her that you’re the best son/daughter in the world 😉
